Visitor from another world...

My aunt Kathy arrived in Nampula on Saturday! Her trip was more than 24 hours of airplanes, overnight lay-overs, immigration desks, and customs officials. Sounds like she did very well on this journey to our world. We know God was watching over her because she arrived safe and sound, with all her luggage, and didn't pay extra for anything along the way!

Our Nyungwe translation team and all the missionaries are having fun meeting Kathy. I'm 43... they expected my aunt to be, well, older than Kathy! So when she climbed a 100 year old cashew tree and jumped off the Tarzan rope swing, she got a reputation! (She didn't think anyone was watching, but I saw the kitchen ladies smiling from a distance.) Now she's looking for a job around here... "I can help with that..." waiting tables in the dining hall, painting the new mural in the office entry... helping at pre-school... shopping... That's the spirit, Kathy! Keep it up!

Now, on her list of things to do:
  • carry stuff on her head
  • drive on the left side of the road
  • shop alone using local money
  • hold babies at the orphanage
  • learn Nyungwe greetings
  • learn Portuguese greetings
  • learn everyone's names and what country they are from
  • keep having fun!
I'm having fun watching her... and she's having fun watching me. That's how a cross-cultural exchange should be, isn't it?
