When are we going back to Mozambique?

Last night, the church agreed to send us back to Tete for another 3 years!

Many of you have been praying for a long time over this decision. We thank you for standing with us and believing that our return would be sooner rather than later! Thanks for being part of our team. You are important!

Each of you who prays for us... each of you who gives from $5 to $500... we know that each of you does so in answer to God's call in your life. We do not take the responsibility for these funds lightly. We pray for God's guidance in using the money wisely and in making a positive impact through our lives wherever we are. Thanks for trusting Him to guide us in the Nyungwe project!

Keep praying!!!

We will be ordering tickets for 'week 44'
In Sweden, the calendar has not only months and days, but the weeks are numbered... starting with the first Monday of the year... week one. Week 44 is the kids' "fall vacation." They are off for a week. It is a natural break for our family.

Week 44 is Oct. 29-Nov 5. Perfect. In 1998, we arrived in Tete for the first time as newlyweds. It was the end of October. It was over 110F/42C and dry and dusty... Tete at its peak of "tetiness"! In 2002, we returned to Tete after furlough with 2 kids under 3 years old... on October 31st. It was 110F and dry and dusty! We were locked out of the house where we were supposed to stay. The kids started digging in the sand and got filthy!

Mikael's upcoming conference trip...
This week, Mikael will travel to Mozambique for an orthography conference... look for that on Wikipedia if you dare! They will be discussing the standardization of Mozambican writing systems. Spelling and grammar, basically. Fun for Mikael and important for Nyungwe to get in on the discussions.

He will take the oportunity to fly up to Tete and greet the translators and lots of friends, take pictures, make sure the kids have a place at the school, check on our stored belongings, look for a house to rent, and finally drive down to Maputo with our car. He flies home to Sweden Oct 4th and we pack and prepare for a family move... week 44.

Have a good week!

  1. Jeni, great new blog. We wish you the best, as you take over the Nyungwe translation project.
We remember quite well caravanning with your family from Harare to Tete as you brought your new baby to Mozambique for the first time and we came to visit David and family for our first visit to Moz.

Just spent a nice weekend with David and family in the USA. They are enjoying their time here and are anxious to get back to Moz to get on with their new duties.
