News from Mozambique

We are still in Sweden, but we have news from Mozambique!

A phone call from missionary friends in Tete confirmed that we are expected back... soon! It was great to talk to these long-time residents of Tete. They come from Zambia... they are Africans who are missionaries to Africa. Much more effective than we are at times! They are well. The temperatures are already climbing over 95F. They will greet the church in Tete from us. They will pray for our return... hopefully by November!

An e-mail from our missions director in Mozambique confirmed that Nyungwe Bible translation is still moving forward! The 3 guys on the translation team have spent a week in Beira with a consultant checking John 1-12. It was slow going without a missionary translator, but it worked and they have done a good job! Our director says that they are taking initiative to start Exodus... easier to translate the "stories" of the Old Testament than the teaching in the New Testament. He confirms that they need Bible training, computer training, administrative training, and exegetical help. But, they are moving forward and that is good to hear! They are praying for our return... we are praying for them!

An e-mail from new Baptist missionaries to the Nyungwe people of Mozambique confirms that the Lord hasn't forgotten Tete! They will be studying Portuguese in the capital city until January. They confirm that housing in Tete isn't easy to find; that it is expensive to buy or rent. Hearing of their recent visits to our town on the Zambezi River was a joy... we remember what it is like. We are praying for them.

I also got news from the personnel department in our mission. They are praying for us to come back. It is nice to feel wanted and needed. Mikael will be able to attend in a government conference in Maputo. In September he is being sent to Mozambique for 2 weeks to participate in the conference about 15 Mozambican languages. He will have a chance to travel up to Tete to see our friends and visit the translators and confirm that we haven't forgotten them. He will check in at the kids' school. He will visit our church. He will take more pictures of our lot where we will eventually build a house. He will get our car and drive it to Maputo where it will wait for us to return and drive it up together as a family.

That is the plan... that is the news... that is the OTHER part of our life. Sweden is the same... kids in school and parents preparing our hearts and minds for a move to another continent. I won't pack until after September 14th. We need a "yes" from the financial backers of the project!

Have a great week.
