Happy Valentine's Day

Here are the kids with their Valentine's Day package from Charity Chapel. They were really excited and thought it was very fun to get cards from kids in the USA! Treats also appreciated! They opened the box and another envelope the next day... We also got a package from the Hanna family in Sweden at the same time... and Cards for everyone from Grandma!

We have ordered a new PO Box key... our was stolen with the car! It has taken a month and it still isn't ready! They said, "Don't worry, some people have been waiting a whole year and still don't have their key!" Uh... is that comforting?

  2. I hope you have received our Valentines cards by now. I know it is hard to get to the post office. I hope your visit with the Kerr's was the refreshing that you needed!
    Blessings to you!

  3. Crickett: Well, there is truth to this in some ways. It is true that used clothes are sold cheaply in African markets. It is true that they compete with locally produced clothing in some ways. BUT in Mozambique, for example, fabric isn't produced here... so even if someone is making clothes to sell it comes from Indonesia, the middle east, or a neighboring African country. It is expensive as well. The stuff in the stores are bad quality Chinese clothing that isn't really cheap... and it falls apart when you wash it. So, I buy my stuff from America in the market... from a lady that feeds her family off the proffits. I buy my shoes from the market too and they are better than the plastic ones in the stores. So... maybe the Kenyan textile industry has competition, but in Mozambique there isn't much to compete with "Calamidades" (Calamities are what we call them!)
